Over the past decade, I have developed a national and international research profile in pressure ulcer prevention, early detection and evidence-based care. My research focuses particularly on sub-epidermal moisture assessment, pressure ulcer risk and prevalence, and objective approaches to detecting early skin damage across different skin tones. Through systematic reviews, clinical studies and international collaborations, I aim to translate emerging technologies and research evidence into more equitable and effective patient care.

I am a  Senior Lecturer and Programme Director at RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, where I lead postgraduate education and supervise MSc, Professional Doctorate and PhD researchers. I am also a member of the EPUAP Guideline Governance Group and have contributed to the development and implementation of international pressure ulcer prevention and treatment guidelines.
