This module aims to increase knowledge of methodologies for monitoring the epidemiology of PUs/PIs and to enhance data use and interpretation, as a basis for evidence-based quality care.

For detailed content of Module 3 please see the EPUAP PU Curriculum: Module 3 at Education | EPUAP org.

This Module 3 recommends the level of specialist knowledge (EQF6/7), with 2.5 ECTS, 12 CPD hours and 60 student effort hours.

  • Impact of the results of prevalence and incidence studies on new strategies to reduce PU development, cost savings, avoidance of adverse events (length of stay, morbidity, mortality), and to increase the quality of life of patients

DIDACTIC PART

The didactic part of the Module 3 e-learning is focused on teaching methods in the field epidemiology of pressure ulcers linked to the content part of the Module 3 e-learning. It is designed primarily for educators, but we strongly recommend that participants attending the content part also view this material as an expansion of their horizons in the area of education and research processing in epidemiology of pressure ulcers.

The main topics of the didactic part:

  • Didactic recommendations for teaching the:
    • epidemiology of pressure ulcers and definitions, methods of calculations,
    • international diagnoses and classification of pressure ulcers, position of the epidemiology of pressure ulcers in the context of the quality of care and quality improvement framework,
    • sourcing materials, planning, conducting, analysing, interpreting and using data on the epidemiology of pressure ulcers.
  • Use of the most beneficial teaching methods related to the partial topics of the Module 3.
