Katrin Balzer, a Professor for Evidence-based Nursing at the University of Lübeck, Germany since 2015, has dedicated her career to research, education, and leadership in the field of pressure ulcer prevention. Her work spans doctoral research comparing pressure ulcer risk assessment instruments to clinical judgment, contributing to the development of a core outcome set for prevention interventions. As a guideline panel member, she’s helped shape international standards in pressure ulcer care. Her educational commitment includes lectures and curriculum development for nurses, emphasizing evidence-based practices for pressure ulcer prevention and chronic wound care.
