Dear Friends
At the end of our 6th Annual EPUAP conference I
left Budapest with a great happiness deep in my heart. Over the
three days of the conference, we had the opportunity to discuss
major advances and issues in pressure ulcers, to exchange information
across nations and continents, to identify the opportunities and
challenges that lie ahead and to renew old friendships and initiate
new ones. The world of pressure ulcers has been strengthened by
modern methods of communications, such as the internet and e-mail,
which allow us to communicate rapidly and thus to exchange ideas
throughout the world. However, the classic methods of scientific
communication, like journals and conferences, remain indispensable
and it is appropriate that face to face meetings retain their importance.
The main goal of our annual meeting is always to promote the best
possible level of discussion at an international level. We believe
that this is the optimal way to advance knowledge. After Budapest
contacts will be strengthened in the future between different groups
and between different colleagues, who will get to know each other
better and thereby enrich each other's experience. The Budapest
meeting was also very successful socially with delegates receiving
a very warm welcome from the Hungarian Wound Healing Group, and
I would especially like to thank Dr Laszlo Gulacsi for the hard
work produced in preparing this outstanding meeting. I also would
like to thank both Dr George Cherry and Dr Mike Clark for their
huge dedication to make this meeting so successful. Finally, I want
to recognize the contributions made by the other members of the
Executive Committee as well as the Board of Trustees who have given
freely of their time and ideas to help develop and strengthen the
EPUAP.
